Paris, July 17.
The minister of war has received the submission of the marshal duke d'Albuféra (Suchet) and the generals, officers, and soldiers forming part of the corps d'armée under his command.
All honest people, all honest Frenchmen wished to enjoy the presence of their king during the whole of yesterday; the garden of the Thuilleries was filled with the inhabitants of this great city. The king of France appeared many times at the windows of his apartments. His majesty was always welcomed with the most lively plaudits, and the unanimous and prolonged acclamations of Vive le Roi!
At 8 o'clock in the evening, a balloon of white taffeta covered with fleurs de Lys was sent off from the Terras opposite the castle. Dances and other amusements continued until ten o'clock in the evening.
The grand staff of the allies, consisting of about 300 generals and superior officers, having lord Wellington at their head, went to the Palace of the Thuilleries to present their homage to the king. His majesty received the assembly of so many distinguished officers with the grace and politeness which accompanies all his actions, they were presented and introduced to him in succession.
The monarch wore the order of the garter. He afterwards addressed lord Wellington in English in these words—"My lord duke, I owe you a personal acknowledgment for your humanity, and the good conduct of your army towards my subjects. I am pleased to bear you myself this testimony in the presence of your whole staff collected together."
The king afterwards spoke to many of the officers. All retired gratified at the reception they had met with.
