The War of Races.-Yesterday morning in North Memphis a negro named William Wilson attacked a respectable white lady with a club. Officer Kaiser heard of the assault and went to arrest William, but William wouldn't be arrested. He snatched the officer's club and after placing him hors du combat, he brandished the club defiantly at a large crowd that had collected around the scene. Very soon a gentleman- Mr. F. N. Houston. of Marshall county Mississippi--stepped out and said he would capture William, and started toward him. William contested the gentleman's progress for some time with his club, but unfortunately for him he resorted to a brick, but which he had no sooner thrown than he was taken at a disadvantage, for Mr. Houston proved an adept in such matters, and catching the missile in his hand, a la base ballist, he hurled it back with dire effect. Before William fully recovered from the effects of the blow he was secured, and on his way to the station-house. This morning the Recorder sent William to jail in default of bonds.
