Full Text

Gov. Alexander has sent us a copy of his circular letter to the people of Idaho, giving the figures of the "million dollars" he saved the state by his vetoes of fool appropriation bills enacted by the recent unlamented legislature.

The figures total one million, one hundred thirty-five thousand, seven hundred sixteen dollars or about $1,136,000 more than he promised.

The Eagle supports the governor in his fight for economy, and regrets to see a number of stand-pat newspapers belittle his efforts and impugn his motives for partisan gain. He is undertaking a great and a good work and is entitled to the sympathy and support of the press, irrespective of politics.
