FAITH, HOPE AND COURAGE ARE THE VICTORS
By B. ELIZABETH ELLINGTON
"And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way."
These words of faith and confidence were spoken by our Master, Christ Jesus, when he healed blind Bartimeus, the son of Timeus. Although many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou son of David, have mercy on me.'
Mrs. Eddy says, page 474, Science and Health: "The reception accorded to Truth in the early Christian era is repeated today."
Mrs. Eddy also says, page 346, Miscellaneous Writings:
"The origin of evil is the problem of the ages. It confronts each new generation anew. It confronts Christian Science.
The question is often asked, If God created only the good, whence comes the evil?"
"To this question Christian Science replies: 'EVIL NEVER DID EXIST AS AN ENTITY.
It is but a BELIEF that there is opposite intelligence to God.
This BELIEF is a species of idolatry, and is not more true or real than that an image graven on wood or stone is God.'"
God Is Spirit
One of the things we all can be assured, is that God is Spirit, as we gain a little understanding of Truth, we find that Spirit is sufficiently prepared to offset all evil. And the process of gaining strength must be the desire to pray, study, and consecrate. We find through practice in our daily lives that as one brings himself into the joy of harmony, divine Love is seen in the spiritual reflection of others, and others see it also in him.
DAVID SANG: "THY WORD IS A LAMP UNTO MY FEET AND A LIGHT UNTO MY PATH." The psalmist knew through spiritual sight that the Word of God is the Principle of all true being. and in Christian Science. Principle is of the first synonym of God.
It was obedience to the divine law that great MEN and WOMEN were able to STAY WITH GOD, and prove His ever-present love.
Man Is Spiritual
We find on our journey through life, to avoid mortal mind embarrassments of all sorts, one must know the unreality of the human mind's belief in existence in matter, as substance. Learning obedience to God's law, and the ever-present supremacy of the divine Mind over every form of animal magnetism, takes human consciousness out of the belief in matter, and places man in divine Intelligence. There he finds himself reflecting the very nature and power of God.
The real man's true status is spiritual, and as the human mind recognizes the error of the belief in matter, which is reduced to absolutely nothing before Spirit. man raises himself far above confusion of dis-ease. non-intelligent matter. and all of its erroneous condensed states. Matter has no ability to think rightly. And spiritual man does not have to worship any form of evil to exercise intelligence. In reality all of the intelligence man has is of God.
In this world of the belief of existence in matter, we must watch our thinking and bar it against covetousness and worldly enmity with God,
