Columbus (Ohio), February 22d.—Judge Wylie, of the Common Pleas Court, this morning decided the case of Daniel J. Dalton, Clerk of the Courts of Hamilton county, on a writ of habeas corpus. He was arrested at the order of the House of Representatives for contempt in refusing to produce before the House, or the House Committee, the returns from Precinct A, Fourth Ward, Cincinnati, for the purpose of being photographed; and also refusing to bring them outside Hamilton county without an order of Court. The application was dismissed, and Dalton remanded to the custody of the Sergeant-at-Arms. Dalton is not in town, and the Attorney-General states that unless he arrives by the first train, he forfeits his recognizance, which is in the sum of $5,000. Relator has an alternative under the House resolution of either producing the returns as requested, or serving a specified term in jail.
