I know a man
And he's a small man physically
And lives in Cody
And wears dark clothes
And his collar
Is always twisted
Around backwards
Just opposite
From anyone else
Like all good ministers
And he is the clergyman
Of the Episcopal church
And because he is small
Physically
Receives few attentions
Except from those
Who attend his church
But now and then
He makes a speech
Like he did last week
And startles the town
And people realize
There is a big man
Inside the little man
And they sit up
And take notice
And wait anxiously
Until he speaks again
And are glad
Someone sent
Such a big little man
To guide the destinies
Of the Episcopal followers
In Cody
And I know another man
And he's a larger man
Physically
And wears dark clothes
And dark glasses
And sometimes
His collar
Is reversed
Just opposite
From everyone else
And sometimes
He doesn't wear
Any collar
But anyway
He's the clergyman
Of the Presbyterian church
And because he wears
Dark specs
And walks along
Apparently unconscious
Of little everyday
Happenings of the town
People sometimes
Fail to appreciate
That there is
A live wire
Behind those specs
A man who is interested
Almost more than others
In all that goes on
In Cody
And who is continually
Planning and scheming
For the good of the town
And while we wish
These two sky pilots
All the luck in the world
From a selfish viewpoint
We hope no larger city
Will take them
To greater fields
Because it is these
Seemingly quiet
Unassuming and unobtrusive
Sort of humans
That Cody can well afford
To hold on to.
So much for that.
