Excited.
Bro. Lockhart of the Loudonville Independent says:
"Right at home, in Ashland county where thousands of dollars, paid by people in taxes have been stolen or squandered by officials who have betrayed the confidence of the people imposed in them, and who should have gone to the State Prison, or been hung or shot are running at large and being treated as gentlemen."
These are grave charges, and if true, are of public importance. Would it not be advisable for the Grand Jury of Ashland county at the next term to send for Mr. Lockhart, that some of the assumed rascalities may be exposed and punished? If it be true as alleged, that thieves, robbers and peculators, who ought to be in the "State Prison," are running at large and being treated as gentlemen in Ashland, the thing should be exposed. Let Mr. Lockhart be sent for, by all means; and we have no doubt he will a tale unfold that will make each frisky hair upon the head of the honest farmer stand erect like the quills upon the back of the fretful porcupine. Sail in, Bro. Lockhart.
