SOME GOOD FARMING

We clip the following item about one of Fairfield's farmers from the Chester Lantern. It is taken from a letter written to that paper from Helleeville:

"I will make mention of Mr. Samuel Weir, just over the Chester line in Fairfield, who had three acres from which he obtained 6,200 pounds of seed cotton. Mr. Weir had to plant one acre over the 10th of May, and did not get around until the 1st of June. From this acre he made only 1,200 pounds seed cotton, which leaves 5,000 pounds from the other two acres. This gives him four bales, weighing 500, from the two acres which he did not have to plant over."
