RELIEF GRANTED PRISONERS IN MOUNTJOY
General Strike of Irish Workers Gain Concessions From Government on Behalf of Sinn Feiners.
(Special United Press Wire )
London, April 14.—The Irish office issued orders relating to Sinn Fein prisoners held at Mountjoy prison in Dublin, granting them concessions in the nature of ameliorative treatment. Bonar Law, government spokesman, told the house of commons today in commenting on the situation in Ireland as the result of the general strike in protest at the treatment accorded the prisoners.
CAUSES GENERAL TIEUP.

Dublin, April 14. Commercial activities throughout southwest Ireland were completely stopped yesterday as the result of the nation-wide general strike called as a protest against the British treatment of the Sinn Fein prisoners who are on a hunger strike in Mountjoy prison.
No trains are running, street car service is suspended and stores and saloons closed. Mail carriers and railway workers quit work.
DETECTIVE BITES DUST

Dublin, April 14.The first disorders since the general strike was called occurred today when Harry Wells, a detective, was shot and killed while walking on the street.

Dublin, April 14. Labor executives today ordered a continuation of the general strike called in protest against alleged British mistreatment of Sinn Fein prisoners.
All Ulster workers except the unionists joined the strike. Laborites claimed Londonderry was "tied up." They said over 50,000 workers are out in Dublin, and 300,000 throughout Ireland.
The strike leaders claimed commercial activity throughout Ireland was at a standstill.
