Full Text

Liquor is a much worse oppressor of the poor than Godless rich men. If working-men ever expect to better their condition, they must keep away from the Groggeries.

This community has a right to relieve itself from the existence of the floating nuisances, hitched along either side of the river. They peddle out liquor, arsenic, strychnine and tobacco, mixed with water. Let the people turn out in mass and set these crafts afloat. They will not find it prudent to stay hereabouts much longer, or they will meet with a fate like to that which happened to similar parsons at Vicksburgh in 1835.
