Col. J. Thomas Scharf, Land Commissioner of Maryland, expects to throw open the doors of the museum in Annapolis and show off the numerous curiosities he has in store for curious people, during the session of the Legislature.
It will no doubt make many open their eyes wide when they behold the collections which has been gathered by the indefatigable Colonel during the short time he has had the subject of a museum in hand. Contributions are constantly coming in, and already form a very interesting collection of curiosities. Among the latest donations is a curiosity in the shape of two small oysters, size of a silver quarter, growing out of the mouth of a half pint ink bottle. The oysters form a complete stopper for the bottle, which is full of water, and not a drop of which will run out when the bottle is turned upside down. Prof. Chas E. Munroe, of the Naval Academy, has also presented the museum with a group of fossil shells taken from the mouth of the Patuxent river.
