Novel arrival at Utica. The Utica Intelligencer of May 9, says: Professor Eaton, accompanied by about twenty young gentlemen from the Rensselaer school, arrived here on Sunday, on a scientific tour along the route of the canal, in the boat called the Marquis Lafayette. The party started from Troy about a week since, furnished with the necessary apparatus to enable them to make experiments on board their boat; and we understand are to proceed to Lake Erie. The cabin of the boat presented a spectacle which would have delighted a professed amateur. A lecture table with its usual accompaniments of retorts, gallipots, furnaces, blow pipes, &c. vials containing snakes, lizards and queer worms; spitted spiders, hornbugs, flies, musquitoes and other interesting insects, together with a large variety of earths, stones, flowers, &c. and the cooking utensils of the party arranged with a particular regard to disorder, displayed together a most interesting groupe. We saw "Noah's Ark" last year, but this beats it all hollow.
