Constitutional Convention.—The New York Sun, an administration paper, speaking of the proposed reconvocation of the Louisiana Convention, says:
"We desire to see the Convention assemble simply to demonstrate the point that Union men may meet together in New Orleans without being mobbed and massacred. And further, we would like to see that Convention protected even though it should take the whole army of the Southwest to do it."
As the administration was responsible for the first outrage on the Convention, and the President subsequently defended the rioters in a speech at St. Louis, it is too much to expect that Mr. Johnson will now follow the sensible and judicious advice of even his own party organs.
