CHAMBERLAIN IS REPORTED GRAVELY ILL

LONDON, Nov. 8 Mrs. Neville Chamberlain, wife of the former prime minister, sent this message to the London press today:

"Mr. Chamberlain's strength has been failing for the past few days. He is now gravely ill."

Chamberlain, 71, is believed in the country where he has been resting since his resignation. He became Third Lord President of the Council after he resigned as Prime Minister, from which position he stepped aside in favor of Winston Churchill the day Germany began her drive over the lowlands toward France.
