Full Text

Beauties of Tylerism.

We invite special attention to the subjoined letter from Redwood Fisher, of New York, to Postmaster General Wickliffe, which by some means has got into the papers, as illustrative of the manner in which federal office holders exhibit their loyalty to their masters and the degrading service that is exacted of them as the price of their retention. Perhaps, however, nothing better in the way of sycophancy could be expected. It was seen asked, what most the worshippers be when a monkey is the god? And when such a man as Tyler is President, we may needs look for hypocrisy and servility in his sycophants towards himself, and tyranny to their inferiors.
