UNABLE TO MAKE TAX LEVY. COMMISSIONERS RECESS TO THURSDAY

A study of assessed values, budgets and kindred tax matters was made by the county commissioners at the regular meeting held Monday. It had been expected the county tax levy would be made, but lacking some necessary information and to give time for further study of items in proposed budgets, the matter was postponed until Thursday, today, when it is expected the work will be completed.
It has been found on final revision of listed values that there is a considerable falling off in assessed valuation of county property. Tax officials had been very pleased with preliminary figures announced sometime ago, showing only a slight decrease. The figures, however, are materially lower than the initial forecast, it was said.
