A Much Needed Facility And A Merited Trust
In the naming of Gilbert W. Evans to head the new Westside Branch of the Atlanta Post Office, the department does itself honor in the happy choice. Not only this, it brings to a hard working and deserving young man a bit of the reward due the highest type of loyalty in the confines of the Post Office Department.
For some fifteen years, Mr. Evans has worked his way steadily up in the ranks of the postal service. In addition to an enviable record, he has found time to engage in civic and religious uplift in his community. In postal services he has spared no pain nor opportunity in rendering a service to his fellowmen regardless of race or creed. His name is a first word in Atlanta postal circles and it is felt that the P. O. Department could not have made a better nor a more profitable contribution to its good offices.
The Westside branch fills a long felt need. That fast growing community, with its drug stores, office buildings, business establishments and bank would not be complete without its post office facilities.
Surely the community is enhanced in usefulness and the inviting features afforded in its facilities by this new advent of a much needed service, which will be formally dedicated Saturday, October 22nd.
A modern building some 50 x 60, with the latest equipments and situated on a corner of West Hunter and New Castle and representing an investment of over $20,000, this facility will assist in bringing near the homes of progressive and enterprising west siders a last word in community convenience.
The Post Office Department as well as its valued appointee, Gilbert W. Evans both are in for congratulations.
