Mr. Assmus also has served two terms as Mayor of Sagamore Hills Village, being elected to the post in 1943 and reelected in 1945. He served three consecutive terms as Justice of the Peace, starting in 1947, and he now is serving his second term as a member of the Board of Education.
Still a dues-paying member of Frescoe Painters Union Local 129 of Cleveland although he quit that line of work 10 years ago, the candidate is engaged in the insurance and real estate brokerage business. He was accorded the honor of remaining president of his local even after he retired from the trade, but he declined to run for the office again when his term expired even though he has remained active in the affairs of the local and Organized Labor.
Mr. Assmus is married and is the father of three children. He resides at 11325 Valley View Road in Sagamore Hills.
A member of the Christian Science Church, the candidate also holds membership in Summit Lodge 313, Free and Accepted Masons; Al Sirat Grotto and Summit Chapter 74, Royal Arch Masons.
