New York, July 29. The Thalia, Capt. Silliman, 48 days from Falmouth, has brought London papers to the 1st June, which contain the following interesting intelligence.
Capt. Silliman informs, that a small vessel arrived at Falmouth, from St. Andero, about the 5th of June, with a deputation of three Spaniards, sent to inform the British government of the late change in Spain, to ask protection from the French, and a supply of arms and clothing. These Spaniards informed, that all the French at St. Andero, and in the province of Cantabria, had been massacred. That the populace of Madrid assaulted the French troops, but were repulsed with loss. The duke of Berg, they said, had two horses shot under him. After this affray the French troops were withdrawn from the city.
