Agua Prieta Officers Arrest Three Men in Case and Get Stolen Goods.
Through the ever-present cooperation of the Agua Prieta police force the Douglas police were able yesterday to announce that three men were in jail and the greater part of the loot of the Staymates robbery had been recovered. The George H. Staymates home at 927 Fourteenth street was looted during the early evening last Friday.
A description of the stolen property was broadcast by the local police and copies of the list were sent to Chief Laborin of the Agua Prieta police. Tuesday a handkerchief was brought to Capt. Walter Morris of the Douglas force. The handkerchief bore in indelible ink the name of a notorious thief who is at present in jail. The officers checked up on friend and relatives of the thief.
The handkerchief had been found in the bath tub at the Staymates residence. Just how the thief happened to drop such a valuable piece of evidence is a puzzle. The Agua Prieta police rounded up three men. They discovered portions of the loot which consisted mostly of men's suits and dresses with a few odds and ends such as a Dutch clock, a big folding camera and two suitcases. The Agua Prieta officers say that they have the right men in the robbery case. They also promise to discover and secure for the owners all the loot not yet impounded.
