We are informed that at the Superior Court, Court of Assize and General Goal Delivery, held last Week at Springfield for the County of Hampshire.

One ABRAHAM GIBBS, was convicted of being a common barrator, and was sentenced by the Court to pay a fine of 30l. to suffer three months imprisonment, to give bonds for his good behaviour for twelve months, and to pay costs. &c.---And that upon another indictment against him he was convicted of forgery, and was sentenced therefor to pay a fine of five pounds and costs.

That one Abisha Holland was convicted of counterfeiting dollars, and sentenced to be set in the pillory one hour, to have one of his ears cut off, to be publicly whipt 20 stripes and to be bound to his good behaviour for 12 months, and to pay Costs.

That one Joseph Mitchell was likewise convicted of counterfeiting dollars, and sentenced to be set in the pillory one hour, to have one of his ears cut off, and to be bound to his good behaviour for 12 months, and to pay costs:-- The same Joseph Mitchell was also convicted of uttering and passing a piece of counterfeit money knowingly, and was sentenced therefor to pay a fine of 40l. and costs.

That William Temple was indicted for counterfeiting, but being penitent, and confessing, he was sentenced only to stand in the pillory one hour, to be whipt 20 stripes, and to pay costs.

That one Nathan Chapin was indicted for conspiring with others to counterfeit dollars, which he confessed, was sentenced only to pay a fine of six pounds, and costs, and to be bound to his good behaviour for 12 months.

That one Caleb Darling and one Samuel Alby were indicted for attempting to set fire to a dwelling-house, and confessing the fact they were sentenced to be set upon the gallows with a rope about their necks for the space of an hour.---That said Darling and Alby were also indicted for breaking into the same house, and stealing from thence; which fact they likewise confessed, and were sentenced therefor to be branded upon the forehead with the letter B, and to pay treble damages and costs.

These public examples it is hoped will prevail on all who bear of them to fear and not do so wickedly.
