It is understood the convention bill will pass the senate by a majority of two votes, possibly more—and we tender our congratulations to the friends of the measure, in anticipation. That which has been attempted for forty years, thanks to its enemies, no less than the untiring zeal of its friends, is, we believe, now ready for accomplishment.
On Monday, the 24th ult. in the house of delegates, Mr. Minor offered a resolution for branching the court of appeals, (why not branch the legislature too?) which was adopted, and Mr. Dyer and Mr. Lewis's resolutions for reducing the pay and mileage of members of the general assembly, which on motion of Mr. Craig were indefinitely postponed, ayes 83, noes 68—On motion of Mr. Woodhouse, the house adjourned over to Wednesday.
