OTTO ROBERTS IS NEW AGENT
RELIEVES FOSSE, WHO IS GIVEN A TEMPORARY LEAVE OF ABSENCE FROM DUTIES

Otto P. Roberts of Powell, Wyo., has been selected to serve as county agent for Richland county, announces J. C. Taylor, director of the Montana extension service. Roberts will remain there until the return of Theodore Fosse, the regular agent, who has been granted a temporary leave of absence.

Roberts is not new to Montana, Taylor says. He lived in the Gallatin valley most of his early life and from 1918 to 1920 was assistant county agent for Sheridan county. His practical experience has been chiefly with irrigation farming, irrigated crops and livestock. He also has had some dry land farming experience. He was graduated from Gallatin County high school and later from Montana State college, where he specialized in animal husbandry and agronomy.

Added to his practical experience in irrigation, Roberts has had an opportunity to study and participate in irrigation development on the Shoshone irrigation project during his nine-year term as Smith-Hughes instructor. While at Powell, Roberts made a good record as an instructor, according to reports received by Taylor. His livestock judging teams were state champions three times and once placed third at the American Royal Livestock show at Kansas City.

The similarity between the extension program and Smith-Hughes work as conducted by Roberts, plus his training in irrigation, were responsible for his being selected to the Richland county position, Taylor says.

Patrick D. Elliott, who has been serving Richland county temporarily, has been appointed county agent-at-large to assist with production control programs.
