Hewes Predicts No Increase for District Tax Rate
Eyan T. Hewes, chairman of the irrigation district board, said Tuesday that he anticipated no increase in the district tax rate for the coming year.
"While it is impossible to make a definite statement at this time," he said as the board held its first 1940 session as a board of equalization, "it looks to me as though there will have to be no increase in the $3.77 rate which was in effect last year."
The board will set as a board of equalization for nine more days. Within 15 days thereafter the board must adopt the budget and set the tax rate.
