Mr. R. W Smithberger
Vice-President.
Libby Commercial Club
Libby. Montana
Dear Ralph:
I want to thank you and the other members of the Libby Commercial Club for the kind thoughts expressed in your letter of March 4.
It is somewhat doubtful, Ralph, whether all the nice things you have written are fully merited, but nevertheless. I find it a source of great pleasure to read your letter.
An expression of confidence coming from my good friends. former associates and fellow workers at Libby is indeed appreciated-probably more than it would be from any other source.
I feel sure that I shall always reflect upon the time we lived and worked in Libby as some of the most enjoyable and satisfactory years of my active career. It was a good place in which to live. good for the family and for me
Those years involved much work. it is true. but the remuneration was more than the bare salary. It consisted also of much satisfaction in the job and an opportunity to associate with a fine. clean group of people outside the forest service,
as well as with the finest and most loyal group of service associates that one might hope to have working under his immediate supervision.
The people of Libby and Lincoln county-business people, farmers and others, with whom I associated and dealt, were kind to me and were good for me. I shall always enjoy return visits and a chance to mingle with them. The little time devoted to active participation in civic affairs I enjoyed likewise, because you fellows kept free of quarrels. were cooperative, progressive, and were not asking more than you were willing to give. I found team work to be the rule.
Again, may I thank you for your letter. Please extend my best wishes to my friends of the Libby Commercial Club. and say to them that I shall be happy to have any and all of you call upon me when you come to Missoula.
Sincerely yours.
CS WEBB.
