Mrs. M. A. Whitney of 3618 Palmarito St., Coral Gables, has been elected as President of the Board of Travelers Aid Society of Miami, it was announced today. Mrs. Whitney succeeds Mrs. Lynn W. Whelchel who had held the position for the past 18 months.

Travelers Aid, a member agency of the Dade County Community Chest, employs a trained staff to assist travelers and new arrivals with the many problems due to moving. Services rendered by the Society in 1954 show a 25 per cent gain over 1953.

Among those helped by Travelers Aid are the aged, runaways, newcomers, children traveling alone, and those who because of inexperience or emotional and physical incapacity are in need of assistance. The Society reports that the influx of people into the Dade County area has accelerated greatly, and contrary to the usual trend the summer months are now showing increasing demands for service.

Elected to serve with Mrs. Whitney are John G. Thompson, 1st Vice President; Mrs. John M. Montgomery, 2nd Vice President; T. V. Moore III, Treasurer; and Mrs. Stanley F. Whitman, Secretary.

New members elected to the Board of Directors are Mr. Edwin L. Carpenter, Mr. John A. Dev, Mrs. William D. Long, Mr. George K. Smart, and Mr. Winston M. Wright.
