HORRIBLE MURDER.

According to law!! On Friday Nov. 23, Mr. John Roby of Boscawen left his family consisting of a wife and several children for the purpose of transacting some business in the neighboring town of Warner.—On Sat. morning he was found almost lifeless not a great distance from his residence. Assistance came too late, as he soon expired of the wounds he had received from the hands of several licensed assassins. The only inducement was to get possession of the proceeds of his daily labor, which was all needed by his distressed family. The weapon was found by his side, in a jug. If any explanation is necessary, we would only say, that Mr. Roby had been in the habit of drinking to excess, for some time, but through the influence of a friend, some few months since. he was induced to join the Temperance Society. For a time he lived up to his pledge. This was not at all agreeable to the feelings of his former associates and creditors. Consequently one of them, a licensed Colonel, used his influence to induce him to drink a little again, and finally succeeded. The result is he now fills a drunkard's grave. He was as truly murdered as though his heart had been pierced through with lead or steel. He was intoxicated with spirits sold by men licensed to do so, by the laws of N. H. He lay out in the piercing cold until he was dreadfully frozen to death. What a death! Citizens of N. H. will you longer be accessory to such deeds? This is but one of thousands thus destroyed. Speak to your rulers and law makers in such tones as shall arouse them to duty, and wipe away the blood of souls from your hands.
