MOSCOW, (AP) -- The Soviet Union today accused the United States of trying to undermine the freedom of the newly independent Congo.

A statement by Foreign Minister Gromyko declared the United States, along with Belgium and West Germany, is committing aggression against the Congo. He demanded that the United Nations act.

The statement was delivered to the chief diplomatic representatives of NATO powers.
