Full Text

To the Printer of the London Chronicle.

To obviate certain scruples respecting the present election of members for the city of London, two things have been boldly asserted:

1. That Mr. Wilkes has got a pardon.
2. That there is an act of Parliament by which the members of the city of London are excepted out of the general law for the qualification of members.

Both these assertions are absolutely false.

Mr. Wilkes has no pardon.
There is no such act of Parliament.

The proof is the shortest in the world: Let any two voters demand of each of the candidates that he should take the oath of qualification, and see whether any of them will dare to refuse it.
