Full Text

In the Southern Argus of the 10th, I observed an advertisement of yours in which you say, I fraudulently obtained your endorsement on two notes held by me. In making this publication you are wilfully representing that which you know to be false-and I can view it in no other light than your own dishonesty prompting you to vilify an honest man, for the purpose of avoiding the payment of a debt which you are justly bound for. You well know I never had one word of conversation with you on the subject of the endorsement neither before or after it was done. I sold to Mr. Farrow property, for which the notes were given, and required of him endorsed paper for the amount of cash paid by me on the property. He gave me the notes with your endorsement, (how he obtained it I do not know, but your assertions to the contrary, I believe by fair representations.) I consulted with T. J. Randolph of whom I purchased the property, and was satisfied to take the notes without ever speaking to you on the subject. I am sorry you thus compel me to come before the public ; but justification to myself requires I should: do it, and I hope the termination of the suit I have instituted against you for the notes alluded to, will prove to the community whose statement is correct,
