THE FRENCH FLEET.
The Agnes, Capt. Bacon, arrived at Philadelphia, confirms the account of the French fleet having been seen going into the Mediterranean the 12th of May.
The following was received in the mail of last evening, from the Philadelphia Gazette of Saturday last:
"From Lisbon.
Arrived this morning, schooner Agnes, Capt. Bacon, in 35 days from Lisbon. By Capt. B. we learn that the Brest fleet had eluded the vigilance of the English squadrons, and about the 12th of May passed the Streights in their course up the Mediterranean. Lord St. Vincent, apprised of this, had dispatched an express to England, in order to obtain a reinforcement, intending immediately to pursue the enemy. This intelligence Capt. B. received from a British frigate, by which he was boarded a few days after leaving Lisbon. The French fleet was supposed to amount to 27 sail, most of which are Ships of the line; and it was thought were destined for the relief of Buonaparte in Egypt."
We have a letter from Philadelphia of Sunday last, which mentions the above as intelligence which may be relied on.
