MANY LAUGHS PROVIDED IN CAPITOL FILM
Judy Canova Comes to Screen in Hilarious "Scatterbrain"
With Judy Canova in the starring role, the hilarious comedy "Scatterbrain" opened its run at the Capitol Theatre last night to provide many laughs for Juneau audiences. The music of Matty Malneck and his orchestra and of Cal Shrum's Gang gave a brilliant musical background to the picture.
The Republic picture presents the well known radio star as a hillbilly girl who reaches Hollywood as a result of mistaken identity. Despite a number of incidents which transpire to prevent her success, she struggles through to stardom. Her songs and comedy make the film an entertainment high of the year, and the witty dialogue keeps rapid pace with the amusing situations.
Produced and directed by Gus Meins, the film is based on an original screen play by Jack Townley and Val Burton. The excellent supporting cast includes such names as Alan Mowbray, Ruth Donnelly, Eddie Foy, Jr., Joseph Cawthorn, Wallace Ford, Isabel Jewell, Billy Gilbert, Emmett Lynn and Jimmy Starr.
