The New Daily Appeal

Harry Mighels has severed his connection with the Carson Appeal, and hereafter the paper will be conducted by the remaining partners.—Pioche Record.

This is a queer mistake for a newspaper man to make. Captain Witherell withdrew from the local department of the APPEAL some days since, and in doing so he published a 'Valedictory.' We were not surprised that certain careless readers who are not versed in the manners and customs of newspaperdom made the mistake of half reading that farewell sheet and attributing it to the sole proprietor and editor of this paper; but for a professional journalist to make such a slip as the Record man has made we can find no adequate reason. 'Harry Mighels' has not severed his connection with the Carson Appeal; he has no part in it; has had none since this paper was started; and he and not those ghostly nonentities is running and will continue to run this establishment. We say this with considerable emphasis; for unless existence is a vain and intangible and vaporous hallucination we know what we are talking about. Be good enough to retract and explain, dear Record.
