A letter writer in the New York Herald, from Washington City, states "that in the beginning of May, Mr. Daniel Webster will retire from the State Department and immediately thereupon, a new re-organization will take place in the Cabinet. Mr. Webster has just signified his intention to the President and it is probable that he will either take the mission to London or that to Paris, there to superintend a grand movement of American diplomacy in Europe, having reference to all the international questions between the two Continents."
