Full Text

Our young friend R. D. Read Jr., completes his career as a cadet of the military academy at West Point and becomes an officer of the United States army on the 14th of next month. He will return to Clarksville on furlough soon afterwards, where he will be warmly welcomed by his many friends. We are thankful that military rule in the South has come to an end before Dodd could be detailed on the ungrateful duty of holding his fellow citizens in subjection, also that our Indian troubles are over and there is no danger of his having to leave his scalp on the Black hills. Welcome home to many friends.
