ONE HOUSE LEGISLATURE

Washington, D. C., May 5

Whether the Alaska Legislature should be comprised of only one house, instead of two houses as at present, is a question that will be decided at the election in September, 1938, if Congress passes the bill that was introduced in the House today by Delegate Anthony J. Dimond. In respect to the measure, the delegate said:

"I believe the legislature should consist of only one house, but I also believe the people of Alaska should be permitted to say through a referendum what they think about it."

At present the legislature is comprised of two branches, the House and the Senate. House is composed of 16 members and the Senate 8 members.
