QUERY: -The Herald in its usual elegant style says we are creeping through "a small hole" so small indeed that a sucking pig could not make it," because we say that the sub-treasury law does not require taxes to be paid in specie, but by degrees to be paid out in specie. Now we want to ask the Herald if Governor Chase was creeping through a "small hole" "so small indeed that a sucking pig could not make it," when he recommended the last Legislature to pass a law requiring all sums under twenty dollars be paid out in specie.
