MARTINSBURG, VA
THURSDAY, DECEMBER 3, 1835
Texas. - The cause of the Texans appears to be warmly espoused by the citizens of many parts of the United States. Meetings have lately been held in Cincinnati, Richmond, New York and Louisville, at which committees were appointed to solicit donations for their aid. Volunteers are also flocking to the disputed territory in great numbers, for the purpose of lending their assistance to the Texans in their struggle for liberty and freedom. The lively interest thus manifested by the citizens of the United States, for the people of Texas, has created a bitter and vindictive feeling among the Mexicans, towards all Americans at present resident in Mexico, and, should the present difficulties continue for any great length of time, the Mexican dictator has declared his intention of visiting them with his vengeance. Whether he will execute this threat remains to be seen, but judging from present indications, we are far from believing that it will deter the people of the United States from lending the Texans their assistance.
