CONSISTENCY.

11,000,000 LOAN-The reluctance with which the reputed friends of the government have entered their subscriptions for this loan, plainly shews what dependence can be put by that government on the empty, hollow-hearted professions of the men who boast of all the patriotism in the country; that if they have talents, some ten or some a hundred fold, they are willing only to loan those rare and efficient ones of boasting of their own and deriding and belittling their neighbours' patriotism in supporting government-and that if they have wealth, they love it better than their country.-It should also convince the rulers of a free people that they cannot, they ought not to expect men readily to lend them their property in aid of projects and measures which tend directly to their own injury.
