CONSTANTINOPLE, 26 May.
The Russian fleet of about 20 sail of vessels of war was lying at Bebek, Buyukdere, and the Russian Army of 12,000 strong, on the Asiatic side of the Bosphorus—60,000 more Russians were daily expected. The Egyptian army lay within three days march of Constantinople, and now no prospect of peace. The Turks are much opposed to the Russians. Soldiers manifesting a preference for the Egyptians.
Captain R. describes the frigate commenced by Mr. Eckford at Constantinople, as a most splendid specimen of naval architecture, and nearly ready to launch. The following are her dimensions. Length on gun deck 220 feet; extreme breadth 53 1/2; depth from base to top of gun deck beam 27 feet. Weight of metal: gun deck 36 long 42's; spar deck 33 medium 42's.
