The total disregard shown by Mr. Van Buren and the Loco-focos of the United States, to the popular voice together with the rank hypocrisy of his professions on other subjects equally glaring, is a subject of deep alarm to every man that loves his country. It is astonishing that a small fraction like that which at present upholds the strong arm of executive power should continue by political intrigue and by the gigantic strides in the path of executive patronage, at one and the same time to rule and to ruin the country. Yet such is the fact. The following table shows the number of the free citizens in the several States, which have, in the plainest manner at the polls, pronounced against this great scheme of tyranny and wickedness.
Table showing the number of free citizens in the States in favor of the Sub-Treasury scheme, and also of those opposed to it.

Thus Democracy, as construed by the friends of the Sub-Treasury system, means that 1,142,276 should carry a measure, in opposition to NINE MILLIONS, FOUR HUNDRED AND SEVENTY-FOUR THOUSAND, SIX HUNDRED AND SIXTY-SEVEN!
