MOON ECLIPSED SATURDAY NIGHT

NEW YORK, U-The moon had a blackout Saturday night in the shadow of the earth.

The only total eclipse of the moon this year started at 11 p.m. EST (5 p.m. Bering Time) and lasted about 5 1/2 hours. There won't be another one like it in the United States until 1960.

The eclipse found the sun on one side of the earth and the moon on the other. The moon passed thru the earth's shadow.

The eclipse was visible from all of North and South America and parts of Europe and Africa.
