"As the press ought to be a reward to those who do well, as well as a terrour to evil-doers, we ought to take notice of the noble and disinterested conduct of two very respectable gentlemen, John Addison, of Whitby, Esq; and Thomas Maude, of this town, who have rejected every offer of employment for their ships in the government service, for the purposes of the American war, although they are deeply engaged in shipping, and the times are very bad in that article."
