Full Text

Medicine Lodge Cresset: It is a remarkable fact the number of fine scribes among the people of Barbour county and the cattle country adjacent thereto. It indicates that our country is settled by a class of people who have enjoyed all the advantages of schools and good society, and not the rough, unlettered class that by common repute is always found on the frontier. A great many of our citizens are young men of wealthy parentage, who have engaged in the stock business here on account of the immense profits which it promised. No town in any of the Eastern States affords any better or more refined society than can be found in Medicine Lodge. We can assure our Eastern readers that they need not fear that they would be going out into a howling wilderness if they should think of coming to Barbour county to locate.
