Addition Will Be Built For Farmers Warehouse
Cheatham, Clements and Alston Plan Large Expansion of Tobacco Floor Space; Permit Is Ordered By City Council; Work Will Start Immediately
Permission to erect a new and large addition to the Farmers Warehouse was granted by the City Council Monday evening.
The new structure will face on Horner street for a frontage of 100 feet, and will run back toward Spring street a distance of 197 feet, and will be connected with the present Farmers Warehouse, greatly enlarging the floor space and making one of the largest tobacco warehouses in this section.
The structure will be of ironclad material and modern throughout, adding about 20,000 square feet of floor space.
Application to the Council for the permit for the new building was made by Joel T. Cheatham, R. E. Clements and W. J. Alston, owners of the Farmers Warehouse, of which Mr. Alston has been the manager for many years.
