Full Text

MASSACHUSETTS.--Notwithstanding Mr. Webster's speech, and the hope that the subject of slavery would be allowed to rest, by the States, the Massachusetts Legislature have passed a string of resolutions, the only end or aim of which must have been to insult and irritate the slaveholders.
These resolutions reaffirm the fixed determination of Massachusetts to resist the extension of slavery into any of the territories of the United States, and to seek the abolition of slavery and the slave trade in the District of Columbia; and, as far as in their power lay, to withdraw the influence of the government from the support of slavery; that they will follow these principles, deterred by no threat of disunion, or fear of consequences.
As Judge Sharkey says, the whig press of the south, generally, have no denunciations for Massachusetts fanaticism; it is all poured out upon southern men-the movers of the Nashville Convention.
