SURRINAM BLOCKADED.
Our readers have heard of the sailing of a British fleet against Surinam. It appears they have reached there.
Capt. Boyd, arrived at Baltimore from St. Thomas, came out under convoy of the brig Pickering and ship Merrimack. He was bound to Surinam; but was informed by the Capt. of the Pickering, that it was blockaded by the English; which information was received from the British Commander.
The English expedition against Surinam, which is now probably in operation, was undertaken, it is said, in consequence of a request from its inhabitants.
If the statement in a New-Bedford Paper is accurate, as it is said to be, Mr. Williams, a decided Federalist, is elected to represent the First Southern District in the next Congress.
