Double Quantity Fuel
Is Used During Cold

Man's efforts to resist the elements have been chalked up in eloquent mathematics, for according to an estimate of fuel oil delivered to consumers in Browning during the cold spell, which began January 15, approximately 20,000 gallons were delivered.

This, said Tom Hamby, one of the dealers, was double the quantity that would have been otherwise used.

Supply of fuel oil was all-important, with every dealer—Hamby Service, Starr Brothers, Scotty and Clack—giving of their best to serve their customers.

What was distributed, according to Hamby, has already been consumed, for to meet the inroads of the cold, stoves and furnaces had to be kept in full blast, and at that, interiors were far from comfortable, with heating equipment being cursed by their owners.

Considerable increase of coal and wood sales during the same period was reported by dealers. Hamby said his deliveries approximated 80 tons.
