AT CLUB MEET
Delegation Tells of Interviews
with Price Fixing Board Last Evening.
For the first time since their return from Washington where they appeared before the federal food control board, members of the committee selected by the Grand Forks Commercial club to appear before the commission and appeal for a fair price on wheat, made their official report last evening.
At the conclusion of the meeting the club members passed a resolution commending the three men, J. Nelson Kelly, O. J. Barnes and J. D. Bacon, for their efforts in the interest of the North Dakota farmer. The three men sacrificed time and money to journey to Washington, and it has been stated by members of the board that had it not been for their arguments, the price established for wheat would have been much lower.
J. D. Bacon was the first speaker and briefly outlined the trip to the capital city and the breakfast the morning they arrived when they invited North Dakota's representatives to confer with them. All accepted the invitation but Congressman Baer. The speaker stated that the prospects for a satisfactory conference with the board were not bright but Dr. Garfield, chairman of the commission, finally granted a two hours' informal hearing outside of the committee rooms.
Dr. Garfield was deeply impressed with the arguments of the Dakotans and convinced the commission that a hearing should be granted. One member was asked to appear before the board and Mr. Bacon was chosen.
