"To show the very age and body of the Times."

The New York Times says a great excitement was created in the theatrical circles on Saturday, in consequence of the sudden disappearance of one of the most beautiful and popular actresses connected with Wallack's establishment. It would appear that the lady, having received a handsome sum from her recent benefit, in addition to her week's salary, had determined to try her fortune at the South, without paying the usual compliments at parting either to her admirers or her manager. Miss Laura Keene was announced in the bill to play Juliana, in the "Honey Moon," and Paul, in the "Pet of the Petticoats;" but about the hour of rehearsal a rumor reached the Theatre that Miss Keene had taken her passage in the morning train for Baltimore.
